Visionaries

Visionaries, a volunteer organization within the Eye Bank, consists of individuals dedicated to promoting and supporting eye donation through education and outreach projects.  Visionaries will have many opportunities to help with educational efforts, namely participating in health fairs held by hospitals, churches and schools.

Visionaries can participate in fundraising events such as the Derby Day, an exciting Kentucky Derby watch party held each May. The need to identify and secure sponsors, both individual and corporate, is an important job for volunteers to consider. Help is needed to run event activities and secure prizes for this entertaining benefit.

The Thanksgiving Service for Life and Sight is another opportunity to help provide food and arrangements for the donor families and recipients.  This is a candle lighting service in the Rosary Chapel at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center honoring those who have died and donated eyes, organs, and tissues.

Louisiana currently has a population of over 4 million people.  Our donor pool, however, is shrinking due to federal regulations and strict medical standards. We rely on volunteer efforts to raise awareness of the ongoing need for eye donation to continue our mission to restore sight to those suffering from corneal blindness.

Your time is your gift.  There are no membership dues required for your service.
